Who We Are

Kyeni International Organization (KIO) is a Christian, community-centered nonprofit and Holistic Ministry committed to transforming the lives of Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) and widows in Kenya. Our story began in 2002 with the founding of Makobe Children’s Home in Kwale County, with support from Baraka Foundation. Originally home to girls orphaned by HIV/AIDS, the home later welcomed boys and also served as a rescue center for girls escaping FGM and early marriage.

Since 2018, KIO has transitioned from institutional care to a community-based approach, weaning children back to their guardians while continuing to meet their basic needs and investing in their education, healthcare, and spiritual growth. Today, KIO operates across Kwale, Makueni, Machakos, and Kajiado counties, reaching some of the most marginalized communities in rural Kenya.
